Foot Mechanics Podiatry is the largest provider of podiatry services in New Zealand. We are the chosen provider for many of New Zealand's elite athletes.

We are specialists in bio-mechanics, and orthotics. Orthotics are the cornerstone of our treatment plans. We have built a reputation amongst health professionals as being the experts in this field. If you are looking for high level advice on foot pain, knee pain, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and other lower limb problems that have a biomechanical cause, then consult the specialists, Foot Mechanics.

Did you know that most foot and leg problems are caused by the way you walk or run? A podiatrist can prescribe an orthotic and exercise to correct foot function that causes injury. Whether you are a serious athlete with specific musculoskeletal injuries or have bunions or joint pain, see how a Foot Mechanics podiatrist can help you. We have the answers.

6 reasons to choose Foot Mechanics Podiatry:

  1. We have the most experienced team of podiatrists.  Foot Mechanics has 17 podiatrists, who are all involved in regular professional development.  When you consult any one of them, if another opinion is required this happens easily through our practice management software giving you access to a greater collective of Podiatry knowledge.
  2. Many of our Podiatrists have postgraduate qualifications, ranging from Honours degree’s in Podiatry, Sports Medicine, and Diabetes Foot care management.
  3. We understand the collaborative approach to medicine in primary health care today.  This means we are well connected to respected doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, surgeons, and other health care professionals that may benefit you with your particular treatment plan.
  4. Our Podiatrists work within shoe retail stores on a weekly basis; this gives them the ability to give you footwear recommendations based not just on academic knowledge of shoes but on regular practical experience with different feet in different shoes.
  5. We focus on biomechanical assessment, investing in knowledge, and technology that improves our clinical skills in this speciality.
  6. Foot Mechanics uses a digital lab for orthotic fabrication. This means your orthotics are made perfectly for your feet. There is no guesswork, or “art meets science” as your foot shape is captured perfectly. This results in improved orthotic function, and comfort.

We have many Foot and Ankle Clinic locations throughout the North Island of New Zealand including the Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Manawatu, Eastern Bay of Plenty, Wairarapa, and Auckland. We also run weekly in-store clinics at Smiths Sport Shoes & The Shoe Clinic in these centres, where we can help you find the right shoe to treat your foot problems. On our location page you can find the closest podiatry clinic to you.

In a recent American study that compared patient-reported medical outcomes following visits to podiatrists, orthopaedic surgeons and other physicians, results showed that  podiatrists recorded a 'medical effectiveness' score 3.9 times higher than other health professionals.
